This Love has taken its toll...

Song of the moment: Maroon 5 - This Love

I was so high I did not recognize
The fire burning in her eyes
The chaos that controlled my mind
Whispered goodbye and she got on a plane
Never to return again
But always in my heart

This love has taken its toll on me
She said Goodbye too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore

'This Love' by Maroon 5

This song holds special meaning to me, especially considering recent events which have happened around me. All these talk about break-ups, make-ups, rejection and acceptance has led me to think about the fragility of this so-called 'Romantic Relationships'. When are we really mature enough to be in such a relationship? Just how serious are we supposed to treat these kind of relationships? Do we really have what it takes to handle the ups and downs of such relationships?

Got our(my class) common test time tables. It seems that we MIT students have only two common tests for next week (Networking and Maths). Less tests = More time to study, so I suppose its a good thing. We also got to hand in our semestral project reports in a couple of weeks time, so I got to get started on that to.

Had to head back to school today for a make-up Networking lecture, despite it being our study week. A total waste of my time I reckon. All Mister NSB did was go through the answers to our previous lab, which he had already done during our last lab session with him. Probably would have learned more had I stayed behind at home (provided I chose to study of course). Anyways, in celebration of Keting's and Winnie's birthday, we went to this Dim Sum place at Paragon. The 'Xiao Long Bao' there was absolutely fantastic. After that, I chose to go home while most of the remaining people went to K Box to sing to their heart's content.

Coincidentally, I found out about a couple of things today. Apparently Keting has broken up with Ivan. This is apparently 'old' news (I am guessing at least a week old?). This just shows how far down I am in my class's information grapevine. I mean, we're classmates darn it!? And this apparently 'newer' piece of information (it happened a couple of days ago and half the class, including me, found out today), Jon has apparently lost out to Kris's older brother, James, in the race to be Huai Yu's (forgive me if I got the spelling wrong) boyfriend. Considering that Jon has known Huai Yu months before James and started wooing her like at least a month before James made his intentions known, I am kind of disappointed in Jon (Quote from Gary:"She(Huai Yu) gave Jon a few chances, Jon just didn't take them"). Still, no use crying over spilt milk, just wish Huai Yu happiness in her new relationship.

Speaking of relationships, there seems to be a burgeoning "friendship" (romance?) between two people in my class. In respect to their privacy (and the fact that they probably haven't realized it yet), I won't reveal their names outright, however I can say that both their names have already been mentioned in this particular entry of my blog. As Jodi says, 'Let Nature take its Course'.

In the mood...for Birthdays??

Song of the moment: T.M Revolution - Zips

There are times that I find myself feeling completely useless in certain situations. While everyone around me is busy doing SOMETHING, all I can do is sit there, trying to absorb what has just happened. In the end, all I can offer is...

Lots and lots of events happened this past couple of days. To start of, it was Melvin's birthday last Thursday. Kenneth and I got him the $59 Adidas All-Blacks Tee-Shirt he wanted (Currently, its still MY gift...I haven't got my money back from Kenneth yet). He said it was very comfortable (It better be...) and he appreciated it a lot.

Then came Saturday, which coincidentally was SJ's birthday. After the make-up lab session in school, we went to Suntec to have a buffet with a couple of friends and colleagues from SJ's time at Moscow Circus. Without going into too much detail, it was quite good (although the food wasn't).

In case some of you still don't know or have forgotten (which sadly, amounts to quite a number of people), it was my Birthday on Sunday. To those who have forgotten, I won't blame you all for forgetting, just remember next time and to those who remembered, many thanks for your 'Happy Birthday' SMSes and wishes. In celebration of my Birthday, my parents brought me to Genghis Khan at Taka for my birthday dinner on Saturday night (never EVER eat 2 buffets in a row...). It was good, especially the Shark's Fin Soup. I also got two tee-shirts, one from my classmates and the other from Melvin, who also threw in an Adidas bottle into the package. On Sunday, I got a HongBao from Auntie LK in Church and Melvin treated me to a movie (AvP - Rating: 3.5/5) at Cineleisure. Thanks for everything guys, you made it the best birthday EVER!

Monday was a little interesting for me. Wallz got a new haircut, a very big change from his previous Sadako-like hairstyle. Still, he finally got his haircut, which is certainly, a good thing. Later, Nat got into a minor accident during dinner and decided to give our C++ lab session a miss. We also got our C++ projects (teamed up with THE couple, Feli and Sun Feng. With SJ, Jon and POT going together, Nat and Gary will probably be a team). Hopefully, the project will go well.

Thanks again to everyone who made my Birthday a smashing success!!

It started like any other night...

Song of the moment: Hoobastank - Running Away

It has been a somewhat hectic week for me. We're all starting to feel the pressure of school, whether knowingly or unknowingly. Then there was the Daniel Zhang Feng Qi interview on Thursday, which went quite alright...thankfully he's not the gay everyone thought he was. Although I had a little problem with the tape recorder in the beginning, it did work out in the end. However, from the concert, I can see that I am not going to be a fan of his music anytime soon. His voice sounds a little scratchy and soft, and his music is basically a mix of Wilber Pan and David Tao. His fan base mainly consists of screaming secondary school girls, which I try to avoid mixing with. Unless of course, my future mate is among them (only those above 15 with pleasant looks and personality need apply...lol). Anyways, Wee Kiat, Amanda, Wallz and I went to have 'Xiao Wo Mian' for dinner at this hawker place in Ang Mo Kio. It was reasonably tasty and I certainly wouldn't mind going there again. Amanda had to leave early because she was going somewhere with her family.

On Wednesday, I went to watch M. Night Shyamalan's 'The Village' with Nat and Kris at Cathay Causeway Point. Despite Felicia's and Serena's advice, I went to watch the movie anyway. It was only towards the end of the movie which I realized my mistake. Basically, it's about this village (obviously...) stuck right in the middle of some forest. Apparently, there's some scary monster(s?) in the woods which are attracted to the color red. The humans in the village and the creatures have a sort of truce, which involves the humans not going into the forest and the creatures not coming to their village. You should be able to see where this is going so I won't elaborate anymore. The scary parts are scary but this movie gives new meaning to 'unexpected ending', which really negates all the effort the director put into scaring us. (Rating: 2.5/5)

On Sunday however, I went to watch a reasonably better movie (after church of course, Shu Wei and Ke Song) called 'Collateral'. It's about this assassin (Tom Cruise) who happens to take a cab with an interesting driver (Jamie Foxx), while going on a killing spree around the city. This movie, is not about the killings, but its about the relationship between the cab driver and the assassin and how they eventually, change each others life. So if you're looking for a lots of action and blood, please give this a miss. (Rating: 4/5)

Lots of things are happening this week, so if you have anything to say or do to someone, please make it quick.

Moving along...slowly

Song of the moment: Hoobastank - The Reason

To start off, I would like to wish my Sunday School classmate and hopefully good friend instead of ordinary acquaintance, Cari Ann Seet, a Belated Happy 16th Birthday. Hope you like the gift I got for you...a few of my friends suggested buying jewellery but since I don't really know what kind you'll like I went for something simpler. I would also like to wish Singapore a Happy 39th National Day.

Interestingly, I've started listening to Hoobastank. Considering I haven't listened to the radio for ages, it's a surprising development for me. I guess the only people I can blame (or thank?) for this are probably Jonathan and YX.

It's been a somewhat lacklustre past week. Very ordinary and uneventful. The most interesting events this week are probably the buying of Cari Ann's birthday present(s), the fact that my last 2 periods on Thursday got cancelled and Sunday's theme talk in Church. Rather boring huh? (But the theme talk was rather fun though...) However, I got a certain concert/star interview to look forward to on the 12th involving a certain Daniel Zhang Feng Qi (I've never heard of him until I volunteered to interview him...) and his entourage. Wallz and Moo are coming with me (both of you owe me one...) so I won't need to worry too much when it comes to the actual interview. If anyone wants his autograph, please contact me ASAP through E-mail(anime_freaksg@yahoo.com), mobile or MSN (before Thursday of course...).

It's okay to sleep and dream, just remember to wake up

Song of the moment: Toshinobu Kubota - La La La Love Song (Long Vacation OP)

A rather...good week has passed. It was quite enjoyable to an extent and it had me in a good mood till now. On Wednesday, a couple of us (Jodi, Kris, Keting, Jon, SJ, Gary and myself) went to watch the Korean war movie "Brotherhood" at GV Bishan. I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish. Before the movie started, all of us went to take neoprint at the store next to GV Bishan and we were thoroughly confused by the strange Japanese instructions. However, after much effort, pushing and tugging, we eventually took a couple of good shots. The pictures are now with Gary, who is scanning them into his PC. During the movie, Jon and I occasionally ruffled Keting's hair to irritate her.

"Brotherhood" was one of the best movies I have watched so far this year, up there with "Spiderman 2", "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" and "Troy". In short, its a story about a pair of brothers, both forcefully conscripted into the South Korean army during the Korean War. In order to get the younger brother out of the army, the older sibling participates in dangerous missions, eventually leading to a misunderstanding between both brothers. Brilliant cinematics and absolutely great location shots. The chemistry between the two siblings was absolutely electric. (Rating: 5/5 stars)

When I got to class today, I received an 'Attendance Requirement Reminder' A.K.A 'Warning Letter' for my failure to attend one of my practicals when I was sick a couple of Mondays ago. It was unexpected but I wasn't suprised by its arrival. So I got to hand it in by Wednesday or face further sanctions (?).

Then...she's started talking to me again. Thankfully... I am no longer under any illusions that both of us will/could be in a more than platonic relationship. In other words, just happy to be friends. Nothing more. I am also currently not interested in anyone so I would request that some of my classmates/friends stop speculating about who I would chase next.
