The Eyes...The Window to one's Soul...

Song of the moment: Arisa Mizuki - Hitomi No Chikara (Hikaru No Go 2nd ED)

kizukazu ni tebanashita dai setsuna mono wo
mou ichido kono te ni dakishimetemitai

anata to deaenakattara kitto semai sora no shita
tekitou na seikatsu no naka de nagasareteita
anata no watashi no mirai wo isshoni kizuite yukou
donna ni kizutsuku koto ni mo mou osorenaide

(The important thing that I unknowingly left
I want to hold it in my hands again

If I didn't meet you, under the small sky
I will be flowing in the life made carelessly
Let's build the future of me and you together
without fearing about being hurt)
Hitomi no Chikara by Arisa Mizuki

Just got past this REALLY stressful period where 1 project, 1 tough assignment and 1 lab report was due today. Finished everything on time with a little time to spare. So, thank God for that.

Anyways, after church yesterday, most of the youth group went to CCAB to play Captain's Ball for most of the afternoon. My group, an excellent mix of youth and experience, won 3 matches and lost 2. Not too bad a result considering it was the first time we played Captain's Ball for a couple of months. And guess what? I got somewhat of a tan too... ^_^

I'll also be doing the Personal Sharing on the 13th of February, representing our Sunday School class. I've already got an idea on what to share to the rest of the Youth. I can't really say what it is right now so I'll keep the surprise till then.

Recently, Melvin's going through a really rough time after what happened last Christmas period. He's been angsting alot these past few weeks about so on and so forth and he's kind of losing control already. Melvin, I'll just be frank with you here, alright? Her life doesn't revolve around you and neither should your life revolve around her. Whatever her behaviour or attitude towards you or anyone else, you and her should just move on. To be honest, I don't really know the details about how the two of you think about each other now or how either of you feel about any of this. However, I feel that you shouldn't be too concerned about her at this point of time. Just let her get over whatever she's feeling right now and perhaps...it'll all be okay in the end.

The Games people play...

Song of the moment: High and Mighty Color - Pride (Gundam SEED Destiny 2nd ED)

Today, I have learnt 2 things. Number 1, I finally know how to play Bridge. Number 2, I am absolutely horrible in trying to guess who my partner is in Bridge.

After Church today, Melvin and Kenneth took some time teaching me how to play Bridge after eating lunch at Burger King (Far East Plaza). Cari Ann was also there to get Melvin to do her Chem homework, thus conveniently becoming the 4th Bridge player. Should you be interested in learning how to play, you can visit this site http://www.acbl.org/learn/howToPlay.html which gives you the basic rules and instructions on how to play Bridge. However, what I learnt was the 'floating' version, in which you 'select' your own partner (Don't make me explain it here...I am a novice myself...).
Anyways, I won a few rounds and lost a few, but what I really need to work on is identifying my partner and working together with him or her...which is probably my main weakness.

Yesterday was my turn to cover NYP's Open House and for my article, I got a real post 'O' level student to go through the Open House game. The friend to whom I am eternally thankful to for being the subject of my article is Chia Shu Hui. Thanks a lot for coming down and be the 'not-so-willing' participant of my Open House photo shoot. As promised, I'll help you acquire whatever Fushigi Yuugi manga you're missing in your series and lend you a couple or manga from my own collection (in case you're wondering, yes, I do have quite a few 'Shouju' manga series). Back to Open House, we had a (well, more or less anyway...)fun time. Shu Hui, Melvin (who came along to join in the fun) and I walked through half (To Shu Hui: Yes, it's only HALF of the NYP campus) the school collecting stamps for the NYP 'Passport' which eventually won Shu Hui a consolation prize at he Prize booth. We also got a souvenir at the SIT booth (now, SCL can NEVER do something like this...SIT rocks!!!), a nice little keychain with a photo of the 3 of us in it.
Then later in the evening was a barbecue in Church by the Youth (well, plus Blond's and the Lay Kim/Sin Eng's family anyway...), for the Youth. Most of our seniors and a good number of the younger ones were there. The food was great (The Shepherd's Pie was great, thanks a lot to Auntie Lay Kim!!). We fellowshipped a lot (a.k.a Gossip) and had a 'great' time (a.k.a Bridge before I learnt to play it...).

Note: I'll be posting some of the interesting Open House photo shots (eg: 1 with a bunch of Naruto Cos-players) if I have the time...

It's quite interesting, some of the Games people play on you(whether on purpose or not)...especially on your mind...

As Sweet as any Goodbye can be...

Song of the moment: Maroon 5 - Sweetest Goodbye

Where you are seems to be
As far as an eternity
Outstretched arms open hearts
And if it never ends then when do we start?

I'll never leave you behind
Or treat you unkind
I know you understand
And with a tear in my eye
Give me the sweetest goodbye
That I ever did receive
Sweetest Goodbye by Maroon 5

Project Makeover Cari-Ann is finally completed!! After much sweat and tears, this project has reached its conclusion. While it hasn't been a total success because of someone's poor taste in fashion (or rather HE had SOMEONE ELSE in mind), it was, I can safely say, a partial sucess. Whether she actually decides to keep to it (although I highly doubt it...) is entirely up to her.

On the left, you have the BEFORE picture. Dressed in an unassuming combination of loose fitting Tee-shirt and jeans, one can never really appreciate Cari-Ann's figure and assets.
On the right is the AFTER picture. Although the subject is trying her best to hide behind a piano, a friend managed to sneak in a shot when she was unaware. Now, dressed in a slightly tighter pink Tee-shirt and white OP Culottes, she looks a LOT MORE fashionable and prettier in this ensemble...
Now, if she'll only agree to be my girlfriend...

Anyway, on to more serious subjects. I had a 'surprise' (as in either I didn't know or it really was a surprise quiz...) class test today during Maths tutorial. I thought I fared alright, considering the lecturer actually gave us the formulas.
Also, Natalie has apparently broke up with her boyfriend over some kind of argument (well, thats what I am led to believe from information passed down during class conversations and her MSN nick...). She doesn't seem terribly upset about it anyways, so I guess is not something we should worry too much about.

I've also been recently appointed the new Sub-editor of NYP's newsletter, The Nanyang Times. The new editor will apparently be one of my juniors, Mardina. I won't deny that I was definitely expecting to be appointed Editor, even though I wasn't really looking forward to it. Well, I am not terribly upset or angry that I didn't get the position. What's done is done and life goes on. I'll just do what is expected of me as Sub-editor. Besides, I am already going into Year 3 of poly in a couple of months and I'll probably be busy with my project or attatchment so I won't have much time for CCAs anyway.

Lord...please give me the Strength to let go once again...

Song of the moment: Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved

I drove for miles and miles
And wound up at your door
I've had you so many times but somehow
I want more

I don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile
And she will be loved
She will be loved
She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5

Recently or more accurately, yesterday, I've had this feeling of deja-vu...you know, that feeling that you're experiencing something familiar again. It's as if I am going through it all over again and there's no way you can stop it. I am going to reiterate the fact that I don't deserve this sort of 'cold-shoulder' treatment. I've never thought that you'll 'ignore' me the same way Natalie did to me last year. Not only that, your 'arguing like a married couple' routine with Melvin really drove me crazy. Honestly, I was tired, wasn't thinking very clearly and felt very very jealous...whether you did it on purpose or not, I'll probably never find out. I don't have the heart to blame it on you or Melvin, not that he had any idea of what I was feeling at that time anyway. I'll never ever wish this on anyone but if you only know how much it hurts...
Certainly, who would have known I'll experience rejection so early in the year. To date, I've never been in a steady relationship with a girl nor have I ever received a 'direct' rejection. I don't mind not having been in a steady relationship but it's more of the latter that always annoys me. I've never had the so-called 'loose ends' tied up and I've always been left wondering where I had gone wrong and what could have been. Well, I suppose you've made yourself very clear that you are not interested in me...there's no hope in hanging on anymore I guess...

Project Makeover Cari Ann remains uncompleted. So far, only the skirt has been bought. Although we do have an idea of what we want for the top, nothing is concrete yet. The adventure continues next Sunday, stay tuned!

Happy Birthday Che Wei!!! It's Che Wei's Birthday today and although there wasn't any sort of celebration within our class, we did all wish him a Happy Birthday one by one before we left school. Hopefully he enjoys himself tonight with his friends in Orchard.

Nothing much to say about school I guess. There's a Electronic Comm. quiz tomorrow and I've got to prepare a summary for the project I am going to do for Innovation. The dreariness of school is slowly settling into our bodies again...such is the life of a student.

Another New Year...Hopefully better than the last...

Song of the moment: Dashboard Confessionals - The Good Fight

Consider the odds,
consider the obvious.
The martyr is meaningless,
the campaign has died.
In the planning stages and the fallen faces
are the singular proof that it was ever alive.

This purchased rebellion has been outdated,
denounced and rescinded and left to die championless.
I begged you not to go.
I begged you, I pleaded.
Claimed you as my only hope
and watched the floor as you retreated.
The Good Fight by Dashboard Confessionals

Ah yes...another new year, more resolutions to break, more broken hearts to experience and more stuff to try. Thus, the adventure of life continues on.
Looking back, I think 2004 has been more or less alright. Sure, I've got a couple of regrets, a few wrong choices made and a painful heartbreak but considering what I've learnt and experienced, I feel that I've become a more sensible and mature person (Although certain friends won't agree with me on that...) compared to 12 months ago.

If you've been following my blog, you'll know that I've been experiencing certain problems with this girl I'm interested in. I thought that it'll be good to get a female's point of view on certain subjects. So, I sought the counsel of a certain Natalie Phay for whom I am eternally grateful to. Seriously, what she told me was true, at least to a certain extent. Take the hint and move on. Although it sounds a lot more gloomier than what Melvin and KK are telling me, she's right. However, I am still keeping my options open at this point of time, but I am mentally prepared for anything (or at least nearly anything...) she might (or might not, depending on the circumstance) say or do to me.

Anyway, on to more cheerful things, Project Makeover Cari-Ann is just 6 days away from commencement. With the budget at a tentative $120, possible outfits have been scouted and located at various locations like Zara, Mango, Taka and even Armani Exchange of all places. Therefore, we can all look forward to a new-look, more...hip looking Cari-Ann this Sunday if all goes right.

PS: To all who started JC today, hope you all had fun. If for any reason you can't make it there, you are more than welcome to study at NYP...
